Dr. Sarat Chandra Successfully Performed a Very Rare Procedure
Device Closure of RSOV
A Very Rare Procedure has been successfully performed by Dr. Sarat Chandra and team at TX Hospitals, Kachiguda Hyderabad
The department of cardiology, tx hospitals is very pleased to inform you all that we have performed a very rare procedure called “device closure of RSOV” (ruptured sinus of Valsalva aneurysm). It is rare congenital heart disease but manifests in adulthood only and can lead to heart failure.
It leads to the formation of a channel between the aorta just below the origin of the right coronary artery and either the right atrium or right ventricle. There can be torrential flow with overloading of the right heart. Our patient is a 55-year-old lady who came with recent onset of dyspnoea on exertion and echo confirmed the diagnosis.
Her angiogram also showed a critical blockage in the circumflex artery. We performed closure of RSOV with a special device( adoii 6x 6 mm) while doing it under trans esophageal echo. The procedure was done under general anesthesia with the able help of dr Prashant. All cardiologists of our team Dr. Sarat Chandra, Imran, and Shashi were involved in the procedure. The cath lab technicians Srinu, Rakesh, and nursing staff Rajender and Sravani were part of the successful procedure. We also did PTCA of the circumflex artery in the same sitting. The patient recovered very well.
